Saw my friend
Across the street
She’s lost weight
She looks deep
She walks alone
Stares straight ahead
She’s on her phone
Nodding her head
I’m going her way
I follow her feet
I’ll try and catch up
Then we’ll greet
She slowing down
Almost to a crawl
I’m seeing a frown
She ended that call
Now she stands still
Puts hands to her face
Not a moment to kill
Feel out of place
I whisper a quiet hello
She burst into tears
I say we should go
For a couple of beers
We sit away from the bar
She tells me her tale
She was going so far
Till the hammer hit the nail
Now it’s all changed
He’s decided to quit
Now she feels strange
And life is just shit
He dumped her by phone
Love now a foreign land
She hates being on her own
In no mans land.
